I’ve got some love for NARS & Glossier Pot Concealers

These two concealers are hot little commodities! They appeal to both my “I’m such a minimalist cool girl makeup wearer” and my “I need heavy duty help and only the best will do makeup wearer” sides!

I wanted to do a comparison because I went in somewhat blind with both of these purchases- and you shouldn’t have to!

Spoiler: I love them both- but they do very different things.

Glossier Stretch Concealer & NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer

Let’s look at some basics about these two:

NARS

  • Cost: $30.00 …believe me I know. Even typing the price is painful.
  • Size: 0.21 oz
  • Color Range: 16 colors! GET IT NARS! I’m really happy with Custard under my eyes – I could go a teensy bit brighter if I wanted to highlight.
  • Availability: widely available
  • Product Description: “A full-coverage concealer in an oil-free, ultra-lightweight cream formula that blurs imperfections as it conceals, smoothing the look of skin with a soft-matte, natural-looking finish.”

Glossier

  • Cost: $18.00
  • Size: 0.17 oz
  • Color Range: 5 colors. *Eyeroll* I’m using Medium under my eyes and it’s definitely the best out of the options, but not perfect.
  • Availability: limited to website (free shipping after $30)
  • Product Description: “The buildable formula covers everything from dark circles to redness and blemishes. In five shades painstakingly developed to enhance, brighten, and—most importantly—completely disappear into the widest range of skin tones.”

SIDE BY SIDE SWATCHES AND BLENDED OUT

You can see here that the colors are different, and that Glossier definitely does lighten up the under eye a bit more. Check out the blended out swatches below! They both seamlessly blend into my hand…obviously that’s far easier on a hand than under the eyes but still you get the gist!

Picutres of the concealers on my eyes

*We’re gonna agree not to hate. I woke up… put moisturizer on… thought about this post…and took some pictures- they’re not glamour shots people!*

NARS

The left eye here has concealer and the right doesn’t. I’m actually really happy that I took these pictures because admittedly-  sometimes I spend money on products and kind of just hope they’re working but don’t have the side by side proof.  Although my right eye does look lighter – you can tell that the NARS concealer does WORK and gets rid of the under eye bags and makes everything just a little less sallow. YAY!

When applying: the product is creamy for sure, but not exactly moisturizing. However,  it’s not so dry that you should never consider it if you have dry skin… just moisturize your eyes really well and go in! I’m very impressed I can use this “matte” concealer. You use SO LITTLE product that I truly believe the $30.00 price tag, although steep, isn’t completely outrageous.

GLOSSIER

The right eye here has concealer and the left doesn’t. I mean c’mon that’s an improvement. Although it isn’t as drastic and seamless as NARS  (and it doesn’t claim to be) it is a great light concealer!

When applying: This is a pretty moisturizing concealer! When I initially swatched it on my hand I thought that it wouldn’t have enough coverage for me. It definitely does have some coverage, and it is buildable. However, if you have oily eyes- just don’t buy this. I like it and can use it because everything on my face is dry. But, I have friends that I know would hate this concealer and it would slip and slide everywhere.

I really hope this has been helpful! I was so excited to try both of these, and I know they’re both very in demand right now. I do feel like there’s something nice about using a pot concealer over a wand- and I just don’t see myself switching back to a wand concealer anytime soon!

It’s Fridaaaaaaaaaay! Have a great weekend! 🙂
